I have the same group for history and I have no problem getting them to talk there! The only way I can get students to participate is if I call on them directly, and then they usually say something really brief and/or sarcastic. The videos are really painful to watch, as a person who was kind of an asshole kid all I can think about is what I would have said in this class. You’re supposed to dance and play these cringeworthy games where you make a little dance move to represent your emotions. My school is forcing us to do it 20 minutes a day with 8th graders, and facilitating it is the most painful thing I’ve ever had to do in my career. There are a few teachers in there who rave about it and a bunch of students who say it makes them want to die.
